How To Use Social Media To Grow Your Business
Today, I want to discuss how you can use social media for business growth. There’s a lot of misconceptions out there, and you might think that everybody’s already on social media, but I’m going to give you tips on how I was able to grow my brand and how we do it every day at a high volume.
The Right Way to Use Social Media Platforms
Social media has escalated significantly over the last five or six years. When I first built my brand, the landscape was different. Now, running a national company that is entirely online, we get all our leads and referrals from our brand—100% referral-based. It’s powerful and effective, and I want to show you how to start right where you are.
First, let’s discuss what not to do before diving into the strategies we use.
What Not to Do
- Don’t Post Just to Post: If you don’t have anything relevant to say, stop and think before posting. The old-school method of posting frequently to stay in the algorithm’s favor no longer works because social media platforms are oversaturated. The algorithm now prioritizes content that people engage with. Be relevant to your industry and your target audience.
- Be Consistent: Inconsistency can kill your brand. If you post sporadically, you’ll never gain traction. For example, I’ve been talking about short sales for 14 years consistently. This consistency helped build my reputation and brand as “The Short Sale Queen.” Consistency is crucial in maintaining and growing your brand over time.
Building Relationships vs. Getting Attention
Focus on building relationships rather than just getting attention. There are two primary audiences on social media: those seeking entertainment and those seeking education. When growing a business, you want to connect with people who will buy your services or work with you. I’ve built my business off relationships by being intentional with my social media interactions. I don’t have a million subscribers, but the people that do follow me, the people that I do work with, we make money together because I am super intentional, I want to be able to help you add value and be able to do business with you.
Practical Tips for Social Media Success
- Identify Your Avatar: Know your target audience. My avatars include realtors, investors, and homeowners. Tailor your content to address their needs and questions. If people frequently ask you the same questions, create content that answers those questions. This approach ensures your content is relevant and valuable.
- Be a Resource in Your Community: Get involved in local groups related to your industry. I joined local investor meetups and built rapport with key players. Being a resource for others helped keep me top of mind, which is crucial for brand recognition.
- Fulfill Your Promises: Always do what you say you’re going to do. If you promise something in a video, follow through. This reliability is essential for building and maintaining your brand’s trustworthiness.
Conclusion
In summary, to effectively use social media to grow your business, be relevant, consistent, and intentional. Build relationships rather than just seeking attention, and always fulfill your promises. By following these tips, you can create a strong, recognizable brand that people associate with your name and expertise.
See you next time!
